Our Organization

The Illinois High School Democrats is a coalition of students from across the state working together to further the message and values of the Democratic Party. Organized on a community level, students are able to actively take part in both local and state campaigns at their discretion in turn formulating opinions and values on key issues

Our Mission

The mission of Illinois High School Democrats is to educate high school students on the ideas and beliefs of the Democratic Party, through teaching them core values and principles that in turn will create lifelong Democratic voters.

Our Focus

We:

Represent high school Democrats. High School Democrats of America provides a voice for the Democratic youth of our generation. With hundreds of chapters and thousands of members nationwide, we act as an advocate for students across the country.

Elect strong Democrats. High School Democrats of America engages a diverse body of students who care passionately about improving the world around them. Our members work on campaigns across the country, registering voters and talking to their fellow citizens.

Train Democratic activists. High School Democrats of America provides valuable campaign and issue advocacy experience and training. We utilize cutting edge grassroots organizing and new media techniques to effectively spread our message – our members are prepared to run the campaigns of tomorrow.

Create lifelong Democrats. High School Democrats of America works to make the vision of change a reality. We are part of a growing community dedicated to a better America through the ideals of the Democratic Party.

Our History

The Illinois High School Democrats was founded on On April 23rd, 2009 by Elliott Minge, current owner and Executive Director. At its fouding the organization had two registered chapters, to date it has over 100 registered chapters throughout the state.
